The Experience of the Spatial Journey.
Ánima Village, located in Cabo del Sol, Baja California Sur, is conceived as a place that departs from the traditional shopping-center model to propose a spatial experience closer to that of a livable, social environment, comparable to a public plaza, open and deeply connected to its site. Rather than revealing itself immediately, the project is discovered progressively through the cadence of its spatial sequence.
The architecture is articulated through the displacement of volumes and levels, connected by passages, pathways, and staircases. This composition generates a stratified sequence that invites exploration and continual discovery. The user’s journey is shaped through movement, establishing an ongoing dialogue between solid and void, architecture and landscape.
The use of local materials such as stone and wood, together with abundant vegetation, reinforces the project’s identity and its integration with the surroundings of Cabo del Sol. Ánima Village becomes landscape within the landscape, an essential component in the definition of space, modulating views, light, shadow, and transitions as the environments are encountered along the journey.
At night, lighting is based on carefully calibrated accents that reveal textures, perspectives, depths, and architectural planes. Light guides movement and establishes spatial hierarchies, creating atmospheres and a sense of comfort and well-being, acting as an intangible constructive material that unifies architecture, landscape, and human scale.
In this context, lighting is conceived as a narrative tool that accompanies and reinforces the spatial configuration. Rather than emphasizing the presence of the luminaires themselves, the lighting design is subtly integrated, generating scenes perceived through their composition and effect rather than through their source.
Ánima Village is experienced as a landscape that unfolds over time. By day, the project engages through its materiality and integration with the site; by night, light constructs a narrative that transforms the journey into an immersive sensory experience, where space is not only traversed, but actively engaged and inhabited through movement.
