Arc d’Eco

Arc d’Eco by Maurici Ginés transforms a narrow corridor into an immersive sensorial landscape shaped by light, sound and repetition.

Brought to life at Artec Studio under the direction of Maurici Ginés, the installation introduces what its author describes as a “constructed interference.” It is a spatial gesture that inserts something unexpected into a familiar context, shifting perception and creating a new kind of relationship with space. Conceived for a 5 by 1.20 metre passage, the piece breaks down the formality of the arch into a repeated sequence that resonates with movement, music and colour.

Referencing architectural and cultural elements such as the Sagrada Família and stellar geometries, Arc d’Eco explores repetition as both structure and atmosphere. A series of methacrylate elements with dichroic filters, lit along the edges by LED and controlled via DMX systems, generate a mirrored choreography that evolves with the viewer’s movement.

At the core of the experience is a sound-reactive lighting system developed in collaboration with ProtoPixel. The programming is composed of three layers: a base that defines rhythm, an interference layer, and a third that visually maps the music using light and contrast. Each musical piece generates a dynamic visual score that synchronises with the intensity and tempo of the audio.

“You don’t fully grasp it. You feel it. We often seek clarity, but I like to create spaces that are not obvious, that leave room for personal interpretation.

As part of the development process, a physical scale model was built to explore the spatial behaviour of the mirrored elements. This early prototype allowed the team to study how repetition, asymmetry and reflection would generate a layered visual field within the narrow corridor. Through the model, the interplay of light, geometry and viewpoint became tangible, confirming the potential of the installation to create a perceptual expansion of space.

Rather than aiming to be understood, the installation aims to be sensed. Arc d’Eco becomes a perceptual environment where rhythm, reflection and vibration form a language that speaks directly to the body.
