Plaça Catalunya, the central square of Barcelona and the symbolic meeting point, will be illuminated by a new Christmas light installation “The City’s Heart” by Artec Studio.

Selected by the city to design this year’s central festive illumination, the studio proposes a poetic and immersive light installation through a choreography of lights that simulates the flight of birds forming hearts in the air. The piece transforms the square into a visual experience both by day, through natural reflections, and by night, using LED technology.

“The City’s Heart” features 2025 dichroic elements suspended in the air. During the day, the pieces shift in color depending on the viewer’s position, reflecting golden, pink and red tones. At night, the structure glows softly, creating a vibrant yet energy-efficient atmosphere. Committed to sustainability, the project uses recycled or recyclable materials and integrates with the existing infrastructure wherever possible.
