Coworking Loom Pich i Pon

Working light in a heritage, cozy and homelike ambiance

Located in the iconic early 20th-century building “Casa Pich i Pon”, designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, Loom Catalunya dedicates four of its floors to a new concept of offices that aligns with the values of the Noucentisme cultural movement: openness, flexibility, and knowledge sharing. The workspaces and meeting rooms are distributed around the facade as a set of open, interconnected rooms bathed in natural light.

Remaining true to the essence of the place, we embrace lighting integrated into the architecture to enhance the sense of openness and naturalness. The intentional lighting design is based on harnessing the quality of natural light and bringing it to all spaces, from perimeter areas to interiors, optimizing the contrast between natural and artificial light. We don’t allow the brightness to dampen or fade. We bring the sense of spatial quality offered by natural light indoors by illuminating surfaces through reflection, placing indirect artificial light in each space—opaque, hidden, solid—within each recessed area and shadowed space, creating a feeling of clarity, comfort, and breathing room.

The lighting project is resolved with small-sized LED profiles strategically placed to softly and subtly illuminate the spaces. We utilize every architectural detail to artificially and indirectly convey that spatial capacity of natural light. We distribute these key elements, specially designed for the project, in recesses, cornices, and doors. In addition to bringing brightness to each surface, we also manage to emphasize the original features of the building by illuminating characteristic elements of its architecture, such as exposed brick or the traditional Catalan vault.

Furthermore, with a functional objective in mind, the coworking workspaces feature direct lighting on the tables. Downlights and LED projectors, with high color reproduction and a color temperature of 3000K, provide us with the appropriate lighting level and comfort according to regulations in the workspaces. Loom has incorporated luminaires designed by Artec Studio, such as the Stormbell model, which has been custom-painted with personalized tones for the project. Additionally, bespoke linear luminaires have been specifically designed for the project, further enhancing the unique lighting experience.

“We conceived the lighting project for Loom Catalunya to take advantage of and preserve the quality of the abundant natural light that enters from its perimeter and conceptually carry it into all the rooms. We worked to transform all the spaces that depart from the main plane and become hidden, including areas with different materials that tend to become dark or shadowed, into spaces of light and comfort.”
