A warm embrace of light and literature in a concrete home
In this private residence in Mexico City, where the materiality of the concrete was the protagonist, the lighting was designed to be seen. Concrete and books played an important role in defining the lighting scheme.
The intention was to achieve a pleasant non-invasive light that went through the house accompanying the forceful materiality. But at the same time, to be noble and warm on the visible concrete. Therefore, we chose to work with indirect and warm light, where the source of light could never be discovered. We designed a linear metal element that could be part of the house in a friendly, close, essential way. Emulating concrete surfaces that dialogue with metal lines.
The technology used were 2700ºK warm LED strips with opalescent diffusers and aluminum profiles located in custom linear elements specially made for this project. The resulting products is different from the ordinary. It’s comfortable, functional and puts in value a minimalist architecture where the concrete, in symphony with the books, become the center stage in the house.
