Build warmth from naturalness
The James Perse project at Bal Harbour in Miami is an ode to naturalness and essence. Designed by architect Manuel Cervantes, this space is part of a large commercial complex. It stands out for its use of natural and ecological materials that reflect the philosophy of the James Perse brand. With two heights, the space is conceived as an environment where wood and vegetation are fundamental elements, creating an ambiance that evokes nature and generates an atmosphere of natural warmth.
The primary objective was to avoid a purely commercial space in favor of seeking harmony with the interior environment. The decision was made to hide the technology, allowing the light itself to be the protagonist, adjusting to the different situations and needs of the space. All elements were embedded in the ceiling, maintaining a subtle and essential intervention.
The existing materiality in the space, the shelves extending from floor to ceiling, marks modules and an interior architecture. Following the intention of minimal visual intervention, downlights were strategically placed to avoid visual disruption, maximizing integration with different optics to adapt to various situations.
Additionally, tracks and projectors were concealed in the project to maintain visual coherence and avoid protruding elements. Downlights were distributed in harmony with the materiality and furniture, adjusting the optics according to different heights and needs. This architectural modulation allowed the light to become part of the design without standing out above the space, contributing to a warm and natural ambiance.
This concept of non-invasion is reflected in the use of woods and plants, with a palette of earth tones that evoke nature and the sea. The light, integrated without prominence, reinforces the James Perse message, creating a welcoming and intimate space that speaks the same language as the brand’s identity.
