LOOM Azca

Synergies between home comfort and corporate dynamics.

Located in the emblematic RP11 building on Plaza Pablo Ruiz Picasso, LOOM Azca redefines the idea of the modern office. At the heart of Madrid’s financial district, surrounded by skyscrapers that embody the city’s corporate tradition, the project stands as a hybrid that challenges the conventions of both workplace and event design. It pioneers a new coworking model that merges the intimacy of home with the efficiency of a corporate hub, while also offering an events venue capable of adapting to any scale or identity. Light is the common thread, shaping atmospheres, guiding experiences, and transforming spaces into places where work and encounter acquire new meaning.

Roto Estudio envisioned a workplace that moves away from the coldness of conventional offices to embrace a more human, domestic dimension. Warm tones, natural textures, intimate corners, and communal areas designed for sharing create an environment that invites people to stay. Each space recalls the rooms of a home; work areas, meeting rooms, kitchens, and corridors designed to make you feel at home in any work mode, whether focused and concentrated, collaborating or meeting.

The interiors rely on noble materials; oak, walnut, handcrafted ceramics, and textured stuccos, complemented by a palette of earthy hues. On this foundation, Artec Studio developed a lighting strategy that amplifies the domestic atmosphere; horizontal and vertical coves, decorative fixtures, diffuse lighting in corridors, and warm color temperatures create a serene and welcoming ambiance. In areas without direct daylight, lighting was carefully studied to respect circadian rhythms and gently guide users.

“We wanted people to feel they were in a different kind of coworking space, warm, comfortable, almost like home, but with the quality and functionality required for professional work.”

In the informal gathering areas, lighting becomes a defining gesture. An undulating line of light runs across the ceiling, creating a fluid rhythm that encourages pause and interaction. More than providing illumination, it acts as a visual landmark that organizes the space, enhancing its collective spirit while preserving a sense of ease and informality.

Meeting rooms were treated with the same attention to atmosphere. Lighting here is designed to ensure clarity without glare, supporting both focus and dialogue. Warm tones and carefully integrated fixtures provide a calm, intimate setting that contrasts with the openness of the coworking areas, while still belonging to the same narrative of comfort and human scale.

In the communal kitchen, lighting reinforces the idea of office as home. Decorative pendants and warm indirect light create a space that feels closer to a domestic dining room than a corporate canteen. It is a place designed not only for eating, but for conversation and pause, where light contributes to comfort and informality.

Alongside the coworking areas, LOOM Azca incorporates a 2,800 m² events venue with capacity for up to 1,000 people. Configurable halls, a cyclorama, podcast studio, and auditorium are all integrated into a flexible system that adapts to corporate, cultural, and social uses.

A 2000 m² backlit ceiling was conceived as a dynamic diffuser. This luminous surface functions as a digital canvas, able to shift color, intensity, and effects to suit the identity of each event. Between these planes of light, we integrated accent layers and projectors that extend versatility, supporting anything from intimate talks to large-scale immersive experiences.

“The idea was to offer a flexible space, able to transform according to the identity of each brand or each moment: one day a sober conference, the next a corporate event with color, or even a small talk with more intimate light. Light does not only illuminate, it also communicates.”
