Harmony of contemporary chandelier illuminates the heritage staircase of W Budapest

The W Hotel in Budapest occupies the historic Drechsler Palace, the former home of the Ballet Institute, where it blends history with modern luxury. The space metaphorically rescues the beats of classical ballet through a rhythmic dance of sparkle and light, creating contrasts between elegance and sharpness, the classical and the avant-garde.

The custom-designed chandelier for the main staircase’s eye insists on this concept and is inspired by a musical score, where light spheres, its notes, create a luminous scale representing a contemporary rhythm that seeks to produce contrasts in a heritage site laden with history, through the rhythmic light expression of a contemporary lampadario.

Named Lux Scale, this chandelier is constructed in golden metal and comprises glass spheres of varying dimensions arranged harmoniously, carrying adjustable LED lamps. Measuring 10 meters in length and 0,90 meters in diameter, constructed as an octahedron in plan, it follows the entire vertical development of the staircase, illuminating its path in an elegant and functional manner

Additionally, small-sized LED downlights are integrated at the lower ends of the 8 tubes to illuminate the central horizontal plane, making the ends of the luminaire’s tubes appear as if they were the bell of a wind instrument.
