A respectful illumination for a space where time stands still
The project of the square of Oms in Sant Cugat del Vallès, was an interesting and complex project from the beginning for the limitation we had on placing and adhering any elements to the façade. We mostly had to work with the pavement plane. To solve this compromised situation we proposed to illuminate with wall washers from the ground avoiding the optics to be flush as the facades reached 12 meters high. Thus, to cover them of light in a uniform and smooth way.
To achieve this, we had to separate 3 meters of the façades and place several less powerful luminaires, groups of 4 to 6 luminaires 35w of 3000ºK ceramic metal halide, so that a hard shadow was not reflected on the facades while people passed between them. With these typologies, the square had all the facades and access to the Cloister illuminated in a subtle and respectful way.
